That is the length of a table tennis table. Everything is decided over that distance, which is exactly why it happens so fast.

Come along to a free trial session at TTC Bonn-Ippendorf. No membership, no experience and no bat of your own required.
TTC Bonn-Ippendorf e. V. is the table tennis club in the Ippendorf district of Bonn. We train indoors all year round and welcome beginners, returning players and club players alike, from children aged eight to seniors. Your first trial session is free. We provide bats and balls; all you need to bring is a clean pair of indoor shoes.
01 · Why table tennis
No rain, no winter break, no expensive kit. You need a table, somebody on the other side and about twenty minutes before the first rally starts to work.

We play in a sports hall, all year round. November is just as good here as June.

The trial session costs nothing. After that you decide in your own time, with no deadline and nobody chasing you.
8to80
Table tennis is easy on the joints and trains reaction, coordination and concentration all at once. Here, school pupils and pensioners stand at the same table, and it works remarkably well.
02 · Serve and return
On the left is what we hear again and again. On the right is what we play back.
Serve
I have not played since school.
Return
Then you are in exactly the right place. A large part of our club started the same way. Muscle memory is remarkably patient; after two evenings it feels familiar again.
Serve
I am too old for this.
Return
Table tennis is the sport people keep playing the longest. Hardly any jumping, no physical contact, and you set the pace yourself. Returning players over fifty are nothing unusual here.
Serve
I do not even own a bat.
Return
You do not need one. Bats and balls are ready and waiting. If you want your own later on, we will give you honest advice. It costs considerably less than most people expect.
Serve
I do not want competition, I just want to play.
Return
You do not have to. Some of us play seriously, others come for the fun and for an evening in good company. Both are perfectly fine, and nobody will push you into a team.
Serve
I do not know anyone there.
Return
Twenty minutes later you will. Players rotate between tables, so you end up playing with several people automatically. You do not even have to talk much.
Serve
I am not fit enough.
Return
A relaxed rally is not interval training. It becomes one the moment you want it to. That is exactly why table tennis works for very different fitness levels on the same evening.
03 · Who is behind it
“I founded the club because Ippendorf was missing a table where you could simply get started.”
TTC Bonn-Ippendorf is a young club, and you can tell. There are no entrenched hierarchies and no waiting lists. When you write to us, you do not reach an office but the person who also stands in the hall on training evenings.
